H'moon 11 - Reunion SUP

We packed up and headed out to find some nearby breakfast.  After some circling about, we found a nice bakery café, and enjoyed a quick bit of chocolate pasteries and cappuccinos.  Then we headed into our final cirque.  The drive was fantastic and felt like something out of Jurrassic Park.  But today we were straight up winging it.  Our last minute plans had caught up to us, so we rolled into town without a plan.  We meandered around town, but we got there just as shops were closing.  Had we known, a wine tasting was happening just a few blocks away, but closed by the time we knew!  And also but the weather decided to finally rear its ugly head, rain was on the way.  As such, we headed back down the drive and back towards St Denis…raining as we drove along.

We had afternoon plans to be at the beach, so when we got there we first looked around for food.  We read that only a few places would be open outside lunch hours.  We stopped at our first spot, and when Nadine asked “Pally vue Engles” the lady said no and then went to the next customer.  Nadine lost it, so then Dave was in charge.  We drove until we luckily found a beachside place that was friendly, and we had made it before closing.  We got some fish & chips, and beers.  We sat under the umbrella and saw the rain clouds starting to part, finally!  Our hostess spoke English, so we asked where to find stand-up paddleboards.  She directed us to a rental place on the beach, so off we went.  The rain had stopped and temperature was humid and warm.  We rented boards and off we went.  We saw some reef creatures and Nadine did a few yoga poses.  Dave also tried to fall off his board a few times.

We paddled back, and headed for a spot to watch the sunset.  We got into ?? town, and first did a little window shopping.  Dave’s search for his tshirt came up with no luck, but we found some ice cream and headed for the beach.  The sunset was beautiful with the clouds and the sweets satisified our bellies.  We then headed back to the car, and drove to our overnight AirBNB.  It was close to the airport, as we had a 7am flight out to Johanesburg!  We settled in to a lime green themed little apartment, walked over to a nearby shop for some cold drinks, and then sat on our patio with the active cockroaches (ick!).

We had survived the late-planned part of our trip.  We weren’t perfect, but still had a blast.  Time to head for mainland Africa!
