Hope everyone is doing well as we excitedly move into February 2016!
NaDave has finally had time to sort through pictures from our Christmas trip. We want to share with those we love, but its is hard to know the level of interest each of you will have.
So as the next ~8 emails pop into your inbox...please feel free to read, skim, or skip the words... and review as many or as few pictures. We are totally cool with whatever ya like :-)
I have added a caption to each photo, and quick description of the daily activities. I will logically separate out our trip, to make it more manageable for everyone.
And finally, there is no pressure to reply back, just do yo thang and enjoy!
--------------------------
We start from Dave's flight over to Europe on Sunday December 20, then our overnight train from Nuremberg to Venice, and finally the day in Venice.
Dave arrived safely into Nuremberg airport on Monday night, where he was greeted with a big smile & hug from Dr Lippa.
Nadine then worked on Tuesday, while Dave adjusted to jetlag, and that night we left from Nuremberg train station. After we boarded the wrong train (argh!) and sweated our shirts out, we ran to successfully make our connection in Munich. We luckily found seats on the train, and slept overnight to Venice.
We arrived to a foggy Venice, but our trip had finally begun! We hopped a water taxi down the Grand Canal, and then walked around Saint Marco's Square & St Mark's church (where St Mark is buried!). We saw the 'Bridge of Sighs' where prisoners used to walk after their jail sentence, and then went to an Osteria for lunch. We then wandered the maze-like island of Venice, taking in unique sites until the sun went down. When the boat traffic quieted at night, Venice's mystical appearance seemed to glow like a movie set.
Onto Rome for our connection to Villa!
This popped up during Dave's flight over to Europe... how prophetic!
Two bags and a book... that's all we're bringing!
Leaving from Nuremberg Train station...here we come!
Nadine ready for her first overnight train ride in Europe... with some Vino!
We made the train connection in Munich (barely!) Dave can finally relax and be goofy
